Special Project (Nathan Philips Square)
Urban trees bring great value to our city they cool our streets, clean our air, bring us privacy, provide habitat for nature, have ascetic value and bring incomparable beauty to our parks and ravines. For all these reasons and more they have become more valued and are protected from construction, have private bylaws and are planted throughout our landscape often with financial subsidies.
With the focus on tree preservation and being one of the larger firms within the urban area we are often called upon at Shady Lane expert Tree Care to work on the more detailed and innovative projects throughout our city.
One of the most innovative and progressive projects has just been completed at our city hall or Nathan Phillips square. Working with James Urban a consulting arborist from the United States we had the opportunity to bare root transplant semi mature trees out of the landscape before any negative impact was made. We held these trees within a pea gravel medium and only using our special blend of Compost Tea and water kept these trees safe from the construction process for 18 months.
When construction was completed we moved these trees back into the landscape with new root growth and a robust health.
The project was a great success and we are very proud of our work throughout. Please enjoy some of these pictures that help show the processes taken. |
