As we reach the halfway point of the Summer season, we are starting to see a high number of trees suffering from Heat Stress.
Going from a long, cold Spring to a very hot and dry Summer can cause a severe impact on the health of your trees. Here is what to look for if you think your trees are experiencing Heat Stress:
• Leaves dropping from the internal canopy
• Leaves turning yellow or developing brown edges
• Leaves appear to be drooping
In extreme cases, young trees might also experience sap oozing on the South side of the tree.
If your trees are experiencing Heat Stress, the best thing to do is water the tree(s) 20 to 30 minutes, twice a week. A deep root fertilization in the Fall will also help provide the tree with nutrients for over the Winter, and will help the tree strengthen for the following season.
Not sure if your tree is experiencing Heat Stress? Looking to arrange a fertilization for the Fall?
